Cake:
1 box chocolate cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box)
Pudding Layer:
12.8 oz hot fudge
3.4 oz chocolate instant pudding mix
1 ¾ cups milk
Topping:
30 Oreos, crushed
3.4 oz chocolate instant pudding mix
1 ¾ cups milk
8 oz Cool Whip, thawed
Instructions
Bake the Cake: Prepare the cake according to the package instructions and bake as directed. Let the cake cool for 10 minutes before poking holes in it with the back of a spoon.
Add Hot Fudge: Warm the hot fudge in the microwave until it’s thin enough to pour. Pour the hot fudge evenly over the cake, allowing it to seep into the poked holes. Let the cake cool completely.
Make the Pudding Layer: In a medium bowl, combine the chocolate pudding mix and milk. Whisk until smooth and pour over the cooled cake. Refrigerate for about 20 minutes to allow the pudding to set slightly.
Make the Topping: In another bowl, combine the remaining chocolate pudding mix and milk. Refrigerate for about 10 minutes to allow the pudding to set fully. Remove from the refrigerator and fold in the thawed Cool Whip. Mix in about ¾ of the crushed Oreos and spread the pudding mixture evenly over the cake.
Decorate and Serve: Sprinkle the remaining crushed Oreos on top of the cake to create the “dirt” topping. Serve immediately or refrigerate until ready to serve.
