Easter Basket Bundt Cake: A Showstopping Centerpiece

This Easter Basket Bundt Cake is a showstopping centerpiece for your Easter table! It’s easy to make with a delicious chocolate sour cream Bundt cake and decorated to look like a festive Easter basket.

Ingredients

  • For the Bundt Cake:
    • Ingredients for your favorite chocolate sour cream Bundt cake (see recipe link above)
  • For the Icing:
    • White frosting
    • Green food coloring

  • For Decoration:
    • Assorted Easter candies
    • Headband

Instructions

  • Bake the Bundt Cake:

    • Prepare and bake your favorite chocolate sour cream Bundt cake according to the recipe instructions.
    • Let the cake cool completely before decorating.
  • Pipe the White Frosting:

    • Fill a piping bag fitted with a large round tip (or a gallon-sized zip-top bag with a corner snipped off) with white frosting.
    • Starting from the center of the cake, pipe the frosting in a zigzag pattern from the middle to halfway down the outside, forming loops at each end. This will create the “basket weave” effect.
  • Pipe the Green Frosting:

    • Tint a portion of the white frosting with green food coloring.
    • Fill a piping bag with a smaller tip (or a zip-top bag with a smaller hole) with the green frosting.
    • Zigzag a layer of green frosting on the top of the cake to create the base of the “grass.”
  • Add More Green Frosting:

    • Go back over the green frosting with another layer, making it look a little more “wild” to resemble grass.
  • Fill the Center:

    • To prevent the center of the cake from being filled entirely with candy, wad up some tinfoil and place it in the hole before adding the candies.

  • Decorate with Candies:

    • Fill the center of the cake and the “basket” with your favorite Easter candies.
    • Place a headband around the cake to create the handle of the Easter basket.
