The Ultimate Juicy Mediterranean Turkey Burgers

A hand holding a large, finished Mediterranean Turkey Burger.

A flavorful and healthy burger recipe with a Mediterranean twist. The patties are made from lean ground turkey seasoned with garlic, salt, and pepper, then pan-fried until cooked through. The burgers are served on toasted buns with a refreshing and creamy sauce made from Greek yogurt, crumbled feta cheese, grated cucumber, and fresh mint, along with traditional lettuce and tomato toppings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (7-ounce) container 2% plain Greek yogurt (about 3/4 cup)
  • 1/3 cup crumbled feta cheese (about 2 ounces)
  • 1 Persian or Kirby cucumber, grated
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint
  • 2 cloves garlic, grated
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
  • 1 1/4 pounds lean ground turkey
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 4 sesame hamburger buns or potato rolls, split and toasted
  • Lettuce and tomato slices, for topping
  • Potato chips, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the Yogurt Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, feta cheese, grated cucumber, chopped mint, half of the grated garlic, 1 tablespoon of water, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and a few grinds of pepper. Stir well and refrigerate the sauce until ready to serve.
  2. Form and Cook the Burgers: In a medium bowl, combine the ground turkey, the remaining half of the grated garlic, 1 teaspoon of salt, and a few grinds of pepper. Gently mix and form the mixture into four 1/2-inch-thick patties.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the turkey patties to the skillet and cook for 4 to 5 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through.
  5. Transfer the cooked patties to a plate.
  6. Assemble and Serve: Spread the chilled yogurt sauce on the toasted buns.
  7. Place a cooked turkey patty on each bottom bun. Top with lettuce and tomato slices, then add the top bun.
  8. Serve immediately with potato chips, if desired.

Notes

  • A large nonstick skillet is recommended for cooking the turkey burgers to prevent sticking.
  • Toasting the buns before assembling adds great texture to the final burger.
  • The yogurt-feta sauce can be made ahead of time and kept chilled in the refrigerator.
  • Ingredient substitutions are noted as being available on the source website.
