Linda’s Old Fashioned Spaghetti: A Slow Cooker Symphony

This Old Fashioned Spaghetti recipe, adapted from Linda’s classic dish, is a comforting and flavorful slow cooker meal that’s perfect for a cozy night in! It’s easy to make, packed with flavor, and perfect for a crowd.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (14 ounces) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ¼ cup red wine (optional)
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

 

  • 1 pound spaghetti, cooked according to package instructions

Instructions

  • Brown the Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain any excess grease.
  • Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic in olive oil until softened and translucent.
  • Slow Cooker Assembly: Transfer the browned beef, sautéed vegetables, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes (if using), red wine (if using), and bay leaves to the slow cooker.
  • Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.

 

  • Serve: Discard the bay leaves and serve the sauce over cooked spaghetti.
