The Ultimate Creamy Turkey Sausage and Broccoli Pasta (Easy One-Pan Meal!)

A delicious serving of the finished Sausage and Broccoli Pasta in a bowl.

A simple one-skillet pasta dish featuring rigatoni, turkey sausage, and fresh vegetables. The recipe starts by sautéing onions, red bell pepper, and crumbled turkey sausage. Garlic and red pepper flakes add flavor before chicken stock is used to create a light sauce. Broccoli florets are steamed directly in the pan, and everything is tossed together with cooked rigatoni for a quick and satisfying weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces rigatoni
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound turkey sausage
  • Red pepper flakes, to taste
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3/4 cups chicken stock
  • 1/2 red pepper, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups broccoli florets

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the rigatoni according to the directions on the box until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. While the pasta cooks, remove the turkey sausage meat from its casing.
  3. In a large, hot skillet, sauté the chopped onion until it begins to soften.
  4. Add the sliced red pepper and the crumbled sausage meat to the skillet. Stir and cook over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes, until the sausage is browned.
  5. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes to taste, and stir for another minute until fragrant.
  6. Pour in the chicken stock and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  7. Add the broccoli florets to the pan, then cover the skillet to allow the broccoli to steam until tender.
  8. Add the cooked and drained rigatoni to the skillet. Stir everything together to coat the pasta in the sauce and combine all the ingredients.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • This is a quick weeknight meal, with the sauce and fillings coming together in one skillet while the pasta boils.
  • Removing the sausage meat from the casing allows it to crumble and incorporate better into the dish.
  • Steaming the broccoli directly in the skillet with the other ingredients is an efficient cooking method and infuses the broccoli with flavor.
